Rather than fitting into a pre-existing program, Self-Direction allows you to build a customized life plan. With the right guidance and support, you can create an everyday routine that is meaningful, engaging, and entirely your own.

Take Control of Your Supports

Working within a personalized budget, Self-Direction provides participants with two main types of authority: Employer Authority and Budget Authority. This means you have the power to recruit, interview, and hire your own support staff. You decide who works with you, what their schedule looks like, and exactly how your funding is allocated across different services.

What Can Self-Direction Cover?

A Self-Directed plan is highly flexible and can be utilized to fund a wide variety of supports designed to foster independence and community integration, including:

• Community Classes & Memberships: Funding for gym memberships, local art classes, continuing education, and community recreational programs.
• Independent Living Support: Direct support professionals who assist with household management, budgeting, cooking, and navigating public transportation.
• Supported Employment: Job coaching, skill-building, and workplace support to help you secure and maintain community-based employment.
• Respite Care: Flexible care options that provide family caregivers with a well-deserved break, while ensuring individuals continue to receive high-quality support.
