Research

From its inception, The Kennedy Willis Center has supported evidence-based research by clinical professionals from accredited colleges and universities, as well as such research institutions including Utica College and the New York State Institute for Basic Research in Developmental Disabilities.

The Center’s current research activities include participation in ongoing projects related to the concerns of individuals with Down syndrome and/or developmental disabilities, particularly those who are aging or who experience age-related dementia.

Our current research partners join us from Thomas Jefferson University  Two Thomas Jefferson University Occupational Therapy Doctoral students are working with The Kennedy Willis Center in order to gain hands-on experience, clinical practice and research skills in order to complete their senior capstone experiences. Students are completing a comparative study to gain a better understanding of the role of occupational therapy related to aging I/DD populations and implementing these skills across community-based programs.
